Pre and Post Natal Pilates* at Postura

Prenatal (pregnancy) pilates modify the

principles of regular pilates exercises for pregnancy. Each exercise is designed taking into account pregnancy related body changes. The classes also teach the correct technique for pelvic floor exercises. Approximately 60% of women develop incontinence problems during and/or after pregnancy (British Journal of Midwifery, 2005). By training your pelvic floor muscles during your pilates class, you can reduce the likelihood of experiencing this.

Postnatal Pilates

This class will be conducted by one of our experienced physiotherapists or Pilates instructors with extensive Pilates training. The class will run for 60 minutes and will be available for any new mother. We recommend start after six weeks of birth, but you can book a Physio session before start to check if you body is ready to exercise. The Postnatal class involves an array of Pilates exercises designed to tone and reshape your body following your pregnancy. There is a large emphasis on pelvic floor strengthening and abdominal toning. We encourage you to bring along your baby to the session. Although they won't be actively involved in the exercises, it will be wonderful setting to meet other new mothers and their children too.
